Show Review by Les Smith NODA Councillor

The first half of the evening’s entertainment was a Christmas Story with a difference written especially for LYTES by one of their former members, Matthew Weigold. This was set in the Green’s household and told the story after dad Green had lost his job just prior to Christmas. There were some great cameo parts in this, namely Luke Shepherd who played Uncle Brian, he was the partner of a disability scooter riding Nan, played expertly by Amber Senior, these two played off each other well although Uncle Brian only managed to get two words out at each attempt, “Oh Ay”. All members of the cast portrayed their parts really well and credit must go to them all, the action on stage was interspersed with video clips showing other parts of the story.

The second half was a cabaret which was made up of Christmas songs and dancing including dancing reindeers! The whole section was expertly compared by Alex Csurko who also entertained us with his magic tricks. This young man was excellent, he had the entire audience baffled by his card tricks, patter and his use of members of the audience as his assistants was perfect.

The opening number “Where are you Christmas” was sung by Leila Price and the full company, this was a number I had not heard of before but it was sung beautifully by all of them.

Many thanks LYTES for a great evening’s entertainment.
